چکیده

A high-intensity continuous-wave (CW) radio frequency quadrupole (RFQ) accelerator is designed for boron neutron capture therapy. The transmission efficiency of a 20-mA proton beam accelerated from 30 keV to 2.5 MeV can reach 98.7% at an operating 200 MHz. dynamics have good tolerance errors. By comparing the high-frequency parameters quadrilateral and octagonal RFQ cross sections, structure four-vane cavity selected owing its multiple advantages, such as smaller section same easy processing. In addition, tuners undercuts are tune achieve flat electric field distribution along cavity. this paper, dynamic simulation electromagnetic design presented in detail.

Development of a Tandem-Electrostatic-Quadrupole facility for Accelerator-Based Boron Neutron Capture Therapy.

We describe the present status of an ongoing project to develop a Tandem-ElectroStatic-Quadrupole (TESQ) accelerator facility for Accelerator-Based (AB)-BNCT. The project final goal is a machine capable of delivering 30 mA of 2.4 MeV protons to be used in conjunction with a neutron production target based on the (7)Li(p,n)(7)Be reaction. The machine currently being constructed is a folded TESQ ...

Design and Simulation of Photoneutron Source by MCNPX Monte Carlo Code for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy

Introduction Electron linear accelerator (LINAC) can be used for neutron production in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). BNCT is an external radiotherapeutic method for the treatment of some cancers. In this study, Varian 2300 C/D LINAC was simulated as an electron accelerator-based photoneutron source to provide a suitable neutron flux for BNCT. Materials and Methods Photoneutron sources w...

Review of Accelerator-based Boron Neutron Capture Therapy Machines

Accelerator-based BNCT (Boron Neutron Capture Therapy) facilities are being studied, developed and constructed at many laboratories and hospitals, especially in Japan. In order to provide sufficient neutron flux in the epi-thermal energy region (0.5 ~ 10 keV), an intense proton beam accelerated with a cyclotron, linear accelerator (linac) or DC accelerator up to 2.5 ~ 30 MeV is directed to lith...

Neutron Tube Design Study for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy Application

Radio-frequency (RF) driven ion sources are being developed in Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) for sealed-accelerator-tube neutron generator application. By using a 5-cm-diameter RF-driven multicusp source H yields over 95% have been achieved. These experimental findings will enable one to develop compact neutron generators based on the D-D or D-T fusion reactions. In this new neut...

A Monte Carlo study of SPECT in boron neutron capture therapy for a heterogeneous human phantom

Background: Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a binary radiotherapy combining biochemical targeting with neutron irradiation. However, monitoring the boron distribution is a fundamental problem in BNCT. Prompt gamma rays emitted by boron capture reaction can be used to address the issue. Materials and Methods: The general-purpose Monte Carlo toolkits Geant4 and MCNP were used for the simu...
